James Edward Sikes

James Edward Sikes, age 74, died Saturday, February 28, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital.  Ed was born in Waycross, GA on June 13, 1940 to the late Ralph & Adria Wildes Sikes.  He was a graduate of Savannah High School Class of 1958.  He served in the Air Force National Guard and attended Georgia Southern College.  He retired from AT&T after 42 years of service.  Ed’s passions included golf, line dancing, gardening, and most of all working out/socializing at the Islands YMCA.

Ed is survived by his wife, Sandy Orvin Sikes; daughter, Jamie Ellen Sikes & John Nikerle of Woodstock, GA.; his stepdaughters, Kimberly Newman (Earl), Kelly Scott; mother-in-law, Betty Newsome Orvin; his sisters, Linda Kennerk (Harry), Carolyn McNaughton (Phil); Uncles Mac Wildes (Cindy) & Griff Wildes (Artie); Aunt Jean Wildes Thomas;  step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 3 from 5-7 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.

A celebration of his life will be held at Wilmington Island United Methodist Church on Wednesday, March 4 at 11 a.m. with burial to follow in Bonaventure Cemetery.

Remembrances may be made in his memory to Wilmington Island United Methodist Church, 195 Wilmington Island Rd., Savannah, GA 31410 and/or Islands YMCA, 66 Johnny Mercer Boulevard, Savannah, GA 31410.
